We accept orders 365 days
a year, but our shipments take place from April through October (temperatures
permitting). We accept VISA or MasterCard, Money Orders or Personal
Checks (orders paid for by check will be held until check clears the bank.)
Your credit card account will not be billed until your plants ship.
Credit Card transactions will be listed on your statement under the Merchant
Name of Openings-- our parent company. If you prefer, email all your
information EXCEPT your card number, and one we will call you for security's
sake. All e-mailed orders without accompanying card number will
be confirmed by phone. You may phone in your order to our toll free
number (800) 484-2472 (Use PIN # 8500 when asked). All orders are subject
to crop availability. Cancellations subject to 15% restocking charge.
#1 Hosta Source guarantees that the plants it ships are alive and viable when
they are shipped, but because of the wide variety of environmental issues
that arise when the plants leave its facility, makes no guarantee beyond
that of its 30 day satisfaction return policy stated below.

A WORD ABOUT PLANT SIZES: The most frequently
asked question we receive is, "How big are the plants?" Our response is this,
"It all depends on the variety at any given time." The longer
we have a plant, the larger it is. And if there's one universal truth
about Hosta, it's that most varieties grow very fast. When first released
for shipment they are very vigorous plants in 4" pots, which establish and
grow rapidly. If you would like specific dimensions, please feel free
to email us with your want/wish list.
We'll be happy to give you up to the minute sizes and descriptions.
All of our plants are produced via tissue culture propagation. Some
nurseries malign tissue culture plugs as being "cut rate" and imply that
they are somehow inferior plants. Nothing could be further from the
truth. Tissue culture plugs are extremely vigorous, develop sturdy new
foliage and roots in weeks, and are "true to name". The process of
tissue culturing is VERY expensive and time consuming. Should the truth
be known, the very retailers that criticize tissue culture starts, buy the
same plants at the same low prices listed below, pot them in larger pots,
grow them for 4-6 weeks, then multiply the price sometimes 8 to 10 fold.
Now THAT'S not what WE consider value! The truth is that tissue culture
propagation is the only practical means of producing new introductions, in
sufficient quantities and getting them to the public quickly. Tissue
culture propagation is done in a sterile lab setting, using small amounts
of parent plant tissue in special growing mediums within test tubes.
It is the method of choice for most of the world's largest Hosta propagators.
All of our Hosta are carefully packed and shipped in pots via UPS (unless otherwise requested). Our plants are shipped with picture ID tags. WE GUARANTEE YOUR PLANTS WILL BE "TRUE TO NAME". And we promise your satisfaction or we will replace the plant or refund its purchase price-- NO QUESTIONS ASKED!
